“The surge feature was removed last year to ensure compliance with the amendment to the Australian/New Zealand standards 3100 Amendment 3.
Amendment 3 which adds several requirements for MOVs included in powerboards, adaptors etc – the plain English interpretation of A3 is that there must a thermal fuse and current fuse added that will take an MOV out of circuit in the event of a gradual or sudden failure of the MOV.
This is being achieved by either adding the “A3″ components to each product, or simply removing surge protection entirely from the relevant products”
